Meet the maker

Hi, I am Naomi

I am a calligrapher and signwriter with a love for colour, detail and the quiet magic of things made by hand. What began as a fascination with letterforms became a bespoke lettering service for weddings, homes, events and businesses across the Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire borders.

How I work

Everything starts with a conversation. I want to know what the piece is for, who it is for and what it has to do once it leaves my desk, because a place card that will be handled by a hundred guests and a mural that has to survive a school corridor are very different problems.

From there I draw. Layouts are sketched by hand, lettering styles are tried against your actual words rather than a sample alphabet, and colours are mixed rather than picked from a list. You see concepts before anything final is made, so there are no surprises at the end.

Materials and craft

I work with pointed pen and traditional inks, brush pens, acrylics and watercolour, choosing materials for the job rather than out of habit. Good paper, good paint and a steady hand are not glamorous, but they are the difference between something that looks handmade and something that looks unfinished.

Why bespoke matters

A downloaded font is available to everyone. Lettering drawn for your words, at your size, in your colours, is available to nobody else. That is the whole point, and it is why I have never taken on a commission I could have completed with a keyboard.
