Wedding calligraphy
Hand lettered stationery is the first thing your guests hold, and the thing many of them keep. I make bespoke wedding stationery from the save the date to the seating plan, writing invitations, hand addressing envelopes, lettering place cards and painting signage in traditional pointed pen calligraphy or looser modern brush lettering, whichever suits the day you are planning.
What I letter for weddings
- Save the dates and invitations designed around your wording rather than squeezed into a template
- Hand addressed envelopes in ink, gold, white or a colour matched to your palette
- Place cards written with each guest name, plus spares for late changes
- Table names and numbers on card, acrylic, timber or mirror

The large pieces do the most work on the day. A welcome sign greets everyone at the door, a table plan has to be read by a hundred people in about four minutes, and both end up in more photographs than anything else you order. I paint them by hand on acrylic, mirror, timber or heavy board at a size that carries across a room, lettering the guest names to match the invitations that went out months earlier.
Matching the whole day
Couples usually come to me with a colour, a flower or a venue in mind. From that I build a lettering style and palette that runs through everything, so the invitation that arrives in January and the seating plan that greets guests on the day clearly belong to each other.
I work with couples marrying across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire and post stationery anywhere in the UK.
When to book
Invitations are usually written three to four months before the wedding and on the day items in the final six weeks, but dates for popular months go early. Six to nine months ahead is comfortable; if you are closer than that, ask anyway and I will tell you honestly what is possible. There is a full month by month wedding calligraphy timeline in the journal if you would rather work back from your own date.

How much does wedding calligraphy cost?
Envelopes and place cards are priced per item, and signage per piece according to size and material. Because every commission is different I quote after we have talked through quantities, materials and timings, so you get a real figure rather than a range.
What do you need from me?
Your guest list as a spreadsheet with names exactly as you want them written, plus the stationery itself with around ten per cent spares for slips and late changes.
Can you match my colours?
As closely as I can. Mixing ink and paint is never an exact science, but send a swatch, a photograph of your flowers or a hex code and I will get as close a match as the materials allow.
Do you post outside Shropshire?
Stationery is posted anywhere in the UK. On the day signage is usually delivered by hand within Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
